Do NOT download the latest version of cgminer (3.10+). The latest versions removed support for graphic cards and are only for ASIC hardware. The latest version you can get for Dogecoin mining is 3.7.2.
cgminer is cryptocoin mining software developed by Con Kolivas. It was the recommended software for mining cryptocoins such as Bitcoin and Litecoin, though the developer dropped support for scrypt and GPU mining, and it is no longer recommended for anything other than Bitcoin mining. The source code of older versions are available to compile, therefore it can still be used for Linux-based GPU mining of scrypt coins. Windows users must either compile the source into a binary or find an unofficial download.
For scrypt and GPU mining, the recommended version of cgminer is 3.1.1. For the newer Rx series video cards, 3.7.2 might work better. For older video cards, version 3.1.1 has no scrypt or GPU mining bugs, and there are no important changes between that version and the later ones. Newer cards might need version 3.7.2 in order to work more effectively (or at all) with the latest SDK/drivers.
It seems that the author of cgminer has removed the compiled Windows version of cgminer 3.7.2 from the official download location here and you may have a hard time finding it at a different safe location. The cgminer version 3.7.2 is the latest official version of cgminer with GPU mining support, all newer versions are designed for use only with SHA-256 ASIC miners for Bitcoins and will not work on GPUs for scrypt mining anymore. So if you are mining for Litecoin (LTC) or other alternative scrypt-based crypto currency you would need to download cgminer 3.7.2 in order to be able to use your graphics cards for mining it. The official download location only offers source code versions of the cgminer and that goes for cgminer 4.0 or newer only. So if you need to download cgminer 3.7.2 for Windows you can do so from the link below as we have provided a mirror location.
You can look up about Zadig and where to find cgminer 4.10.0 so if this helps and you want a go do the next step and become a Bit Coin Node.Become Part of the Big Picture of Decentralised Cash. There is some talk of giving a fee to those running Nodes just giving up a bit of disk space and some Network activity. Can run safely in the background of your system. You can run everything on a cheap laptop/desktop running win 7.But with mining I have changed my speed from 200 to 250 then to 278 I have erned about £12. so when my next payment comes through I am going to try Solo Mining with ckpool and run a complete Bitcoin Node on same system. If i find a block I will get a lot more than £12 but the chance of that happening are lottery remote. But with running a full node I may get a better chance. If you like this my account is up there put something in it. Thanks.
Asteroid's Litecoin preferences allow you to adjust its thread-concurrency and work size. Asteroid uses crowd-sourced data to find the best settings for scrypt (Litecoin) on its internal cgminer mining engine. These settings are specific to each graphics card and can involve a lot of time to tweak. Asteroid will automatically check this database and if it finds settings that would get you better speeds for your GPU, it will let you know.
The last version of cgminer that supported Scrypt based mining, was version 3.7.2. After that version, Scrypt mining compatibility was removed from cgminer and it became a SHA-256 specific mining program. Luckily the open source community has taken cgminer 3.7.2 over and turned it into sgminer, which is now a Srypt only mining program that will receive its own updates and development over time.
Standing strong for more than 6 years already, CGMiner is currently the most popular bitcoin mining software out there. It is a GPU/FPGA Bitcoin mining open source project written in C, available for download on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Initially envisioned for ASIC mining, an update from 2013 gave it support for script and GPU mining. However, this was reversed later on, and Cgminer version 3.7.2 is the latest version with GPU support. Versions later than 3.7.2 do not support GPUs (only ASICs). An in-depth community thread about the CGMiner and its complete list of features can be found on this link.
BFGMiner is software for mining coins that use the SHA256 algorithm. It has the ability to mining Bitcoin on ASIC, FPGA, GPU or even obsolete CPU systems. It supports a range of systems, from Windows to Arch, to Debian, to Gentoo, to OpenWrt, to Ubuntu. Similar to CGMiner, BFGMiner is a piece of mining software that has been written completely in C, making it fast and free from bloatware. It features dynamic clocking, monitoring, and remote interface capabilities (it is fully compatible with the abovementioned CGWatcher software). The last one is a useful feature as the BFGMiners interface is text-based, similar to CGMiner.
MultiMiner is a special piece of software that functions as the front-end of BFGMiner. Its creator, Nate Woolls, was the main contributor in developing scrypt mining support for BFGMiner and has decided to create MultiMiner as a GUI of sorts for his original platform.
cd /root/cgminer-3.7.2CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native -I/opt/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8-RC-lnx32/include" LDFLAGS="-L/opt/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8-RC-lnx32/lib/x86" ./configure --enable-scryptmakemake install (if you want to run the cgminer binary from everywhere)
It is open-source, which means you can customize the software to suit your mining needs. Easy miner has an inbuilt wallet and a moneymaker mode, allowing the mining of Litecoin on its stratum pool. EasyMiner is also available for Android users making it one of the most widely used cryptocurrency mining software among Litecoin miners. Definitely something to try and see if you like this version of cgminer better than the original 3.7.2. Hashshiny is cloud mining software that allows you to find profitable mining pools with ease. It also provides a real-time mining hash rate within the application. 2b1af7f3a8
