Fire and ice: what scientists say we know and don't know about the North Polar region
23 February 2018
Explore the extent of our scientific knowledge on the polar regions using the interactive tool below.
This interactive tool helps people to navigate through the main themes of the Arctic policy and science agenda, and to explore key points that scientists have made in their research. It provides links to some of the relevant articles and data sources.
A range of datasets can be used to explore different aspects of the issues covered, such as:
current scientific knowledge on the Arctic system
uncertainty of Arctic science and polar observations
changes in the climate of the Arctic region
policy responses to Arctic changes
policy and scientific priorities, for example, the Arctic Biodiversity Outlook (ABIOS), the Arctic Council Sustainable Development Strategy, the Arctic Council Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, the Arctic Council Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy and the Arctic Council Polar 2030 Strategy.
Navigate through the tool using the ‘My activities’ and ‘History’ tabs at the top, or use the ‘Settings’ tab to change the date range and the number of results displayed. In addition, if you want to jump directly to a topic, select it from the ‘Navigation menu’.
Please note that the information is not meant to replace the main UNFCCC reports on the state of knowledge on the Arctic, but rather to provide access to key points that highlight key scientific issues.
