As a result of attending this course, students should be able to perform the key tasks needed to become a full-time Linux administrator. Students will be introduced to more advanced administrative topics, such as storage management using LVM, SELinux management, and automated installation. This course goes deeper into enterprise Linux administration, including file systems and partitioning, logical volumes, SELinux, firewall configuration, and troubleshooting.
Transmission is a popular torrent client on modern Linux systems. It has both a GUI for desktop and a daemon that can run on headless servers such as an Amazon VPS. An advantage of running it on Amazon is that torrents will be downloaded faster since the VPS bandwidth is higher, then you can just directly download your file from your VPS. This helps offload the torrent traffic from your own internet connection.
Next, you need to edit the transmission settings.json config file. In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, the location is below. This is also the default location on where downloaded torrents are saved.# nano /var/lib/transmission/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json

Container images for Rocky Linux 8.6 are available on Quay.io as well as Docker.io in both the Official Library and in the rockylinux organization. In addition to the standard image available for 8.4 and 8.5, we are pleased to be able to offer a Minimal image built with only the necessary tools to use a Rocky Linux container and customize to your needs. The containers are about 30MB compressed, and just under 100MB when extracted. In addition, the Minimal image ships microdnf as a drop in replacement for the dnf package manager.
Please note that this degree of flexibility is only needed in specific cases: for most systems standard yum update (with security plugin) should be sufficient. RHEL is a stable enterprise class Linux distribution evolving slowly.
With the 2020 decision to discontinue of CentOS Linux came two new Enterprise Linux distributions to fill the void: AlmaLinux, backed by CloudLinux, and Rocky Linux, driven by one of the creators of CentOS Linux, Gregory Kurtzer. Now with both distros boasting several successful releases, and both ready for use in enterprise deployments, comparing AlmaLinux vs. Rocky Linux is a worthwhile exercise for teams considering their Enterprise Linux options.
In this blog, I provide an in-depth comparison of AlmaLinux vs. Rocky Linux across all aspects of the two distros, including everything from community and sponsorship, to release lag and available enterprise support providers.
The Rocky Enterprise Software Foundation (RESF) is a Public Benefit Corporation created by CentOS Linux co-founder Gregory Kurtzer to organize a community around enterprise, research, academia, individuals, and other institutions specifically for Rocky Linux. The RESF is made up of team leads and other trusted individuals from within the Rocky Linux community with goals of transparency and mitigation of the possibility of an individual or external entities taking control of the project.
While comparing AlmaLinux vs. Rocky Linux is a worthwhile exercise for teams considering their next Enterprise Linux distro, at the end of the day both distros are very similar. And, given the quality of releases to this point, enterprises can find success with either option.
AlmaLinux OS is an enterprise-grade server OS and a stable Linux distribution with regular releases that come with a long support windows. You can rely on AlmaLinux OS to run any and every critical workloads.
